a) NotwithstandingArticle 6 of the Treaty any restrictions imposed on travel, residence and the carrying on of commerce in India by nationals of His Majesty may be applied to nationals of the Republic of China, and any restrictions imposed on travel, residence and the carrying on of commerce in the territories of the Republic of China by nationals of the Republic of China may be applied to nationals of His Majesty originating in India.

(b) The President of the National Government of the Republic of China shall not have by virtue of Article 7 of the Treaty the right to appoint a Consular Officer to reside at the Head- quarters of the Government of India, where the Chinese Government are already represented by a Commissioner. Ends. Chinese reply would agree that the application of the Treaty as between China and India was subject to these reservations.

As the above points do not affect the drafting of the Treaty itself their disposal need not hold up presentation of draft Treaty to the Chinese.
